This Ramadan, there is a global water crisis. 2.2 billion people lack access to clean drinking water, and 3.5 billion lack access to safely managed sanitation.
The Prophet Mohammed ﷺ said: “The best charity is giving water to drink, and He was the most generous in giving charity.” (Hadith Ahmad)
$40 – Provides two people with access to clean water, solar lighting, and handwashing points in Somalia.
$96 – Provides clean water for 20 people in Gaza for a month, ensuring four families have access to clean water throughout Ramadan.
$1,700 – Installs a deep water well in a drought-hit community, transforming the lives of 105 people in Pakistan. This is not only a Sadaqah Jariyah but also empowers communities facing water scarcity to develop and grow.
Around half of the world's population is experiencing severe water scarcity, with some areas lacking access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) almost year-round.
Every year, 3.5 million people die from water-related illnesses, 1 in 5 children is without clean drinking water, and at least 10 percent of global migration is linked to water stress as the world faces the devastating effects of climate change.
According to a recent World Health Organization report, providing access to water, sanitation, and hygiene could save 1.4 million lives every year. We must act now to save these precious lives.
A Life-Changing Sadaqah Jariyah
“We made from water every living thing” (Quran 21:30)
Providing safe water and sanitation is a beautiful form of Sadaqah Jariyah that can transform communities through sustainable clean water programs. You will reap lasting rewards, even after you pass away, benefiting both you and the community you help.
Every time a person, animal, or any living being benefits from the safe water you have provided, you will receive blessings.
Give now to reap the rewards of charity during the holy month, when good deeds are rewarded multiple times over.
Community-Led Water Projects
Human Appeal is committed to transforming lives with safe water, one community at a time.
Our water projects are locally led and overseen by water engineers and specialists who ensure each project is compatible with the local environment while meeting the needs that will keep access to water sustainable.
Whether we are rehabilitating old water systems or implementing new ones, we ensure communities receive complete sanitation and hygiene training to further save and transform lives.
Leave a Legacy of Mercy for Yourself or a Loved One
Donating a deep water well is a blessed opportunity to leave a legacy of mercy for yourself or a loved one, enabling you to reap the ongoing blessings of Sadaqah Jariyah.
When you donate a water well in your own name or in the name of a loved one, an entire community will gain access to water for drinking, cooking, washing, and farming, transforming the village and community.
Why Give Through Human Appeal?
In 2024 alone, we helped a total of 1.18 million people through our safe water and sanitation projects, including nearly 46,000 individuals supported by water wells and hand pumps.
Our local experts tailor our water solutions to meet specific community needs—there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, and that’s what fosters long-term, sustainable access to water.
We will not rest until every community is transformed by the gift of safe water and sanitation.
During this blessed month of Ramadan, join the growing number of individuals who are changing lives through Human Appeal’s water projects and enjoy the ongoing blessings of this Sadaqah Jariyah.
“The best charity is giving water to drink.”
(Ahmad)
